There are several assessments available to measure student outcomes:
Pre Assessment
- Part I contains 80 multiple-choice questions covering five categories: business awareness; problem solving; business communication; technology; business and personal finance) and is administered in 90-minutes.
- Part II is a thematic essay administered in 45 minutes.
A pre-assessment exam is administered online over two days in late September or early October and is comprised of two parts.
Post Assessment
- Part I contains 80 multiple-choice questions covering five categories: business awareness; problem solving; business communication; technology; business and personal finance).
- Part II is a thematic essay administered in 45 minutes.
A post-assessment exam is administered online over two days in late May or early June and is comprised of two parts.
Test Directions
To register for the pre or post-assessment, student information must be entered in the data portal at least one week prior to the scheduled exam.
- VE Coordinators will receive a user ID and password from the South Carolina VE Office.
- Prior to the exam coordinators should log in to review the Guide to Using LearningExpress Advantage™ for instructions about administering the test and to download a list of their students and student login information. Coordinators must provide each student with his/her user ID and password.
- On the day of the test, students will log onto the Learning Express and enter their user ID and password which has been provided to them by their VE coordinator.
- Visit the Resources section of the website to log in.
- Upon login, coordinators should advise their students which test to select.
- The Virtual Enterprise Program’s assessments are typically comprised of two components: An instantly scored multiple-choice section, and an essay and/or free-response section, which must be graded on the Learning Express website by the VE coordinator. NOCTI VE Assessment
The NOCTI National Assessment for VE is comprised of three parts:
- Part I, administered through NOCTI, contains 90-100 multiple-choice questions.
- Part II, administered through NOCTI, is a student demonstration where students:
o Complete a job application for one of three jobs (based on their experience in VE).
o Write an appropriately formatted, persuasive cover letter (using word processing software) explaining why they should be hired.
o Prepare an annual personal budget using spreadsheet software. - Part III is comprised of student projects (student portfolio of work samples, technical writings and directed writings). Download Entrepreneurship Sequence Final Assessment Part III: Student Portfolio.
