On Wednesday, October 29th, more than 100 VEI student leaders attended a VEI Student Leadership Conference in Michigan.

Students rotated through three sessions: a high ropes course and rock wall, a leadership session, and a department session. Students were grouped according to their firm roles, allowing for in-depth and specific discussions about their roles as well as the chance to network with students from other firms in the same or similar departments. The department groups were Administration/Human Resources, Finance & Accounting, Sales & Marketing/IT & Design.

“We wanted the students to be able to come together to not only build their leadership skills, but to network with students in other firms who are working towards similar goals. Some students found new resources while others marketed their business by sharing their social media information.”
Cyndi Millns, Michigan Program Coordinator

Student Feedback

“I really enjoyed networking with other students. Many students from established firms offered to help me if I encountered problems while starting our business.”

“I liked meeting new people and getting to actually work hands on with other students from the same departments and seeing from their perspective how they approach situations in their firm.”

“The part I liked most was the Leadership section. It captured my attention and showed that communication is key to getting a task done.”
