Kevin Smith of Pasadena Star-News provides an inside look at the 2018 Los Angeles Area Conference & Exhibition. He interviewed chief executives from the VE firms, Drone Vision from La Mirada High School and Podz from South Pasadena High School, to get insight on their companies.

Drone Visions CEO, Joyce Matute, gave an impressive pitch of her drone company, to which Smith commented: “Her observations sounded as if they were coming from an industry veteran.” Matute and thousands of other VE students take ownership of their own education, which is what Nick Chapman says makes the “magic” of VE. “‘There is so much invested in it because they own the experience. For the first time in their educational careers, they are being given the keys to the car.’”
