Venture with Michigan’s Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley

On April 25, 2018, VE students from Careerline Tech Center in Holland, Michigan, along with their facilitator Amanda Schuster, were among select representatives from 15 Michigan schools asked to participate in the 2018 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Showcase at the Michigan State Capitol.

The annual CTE Showcase is a special day when CTE students, educators, and administrators connect with legislators and guests to “show and tell” what CTE is all about. Showcasing their VE company Venture, the VE students set up a mini-booth display in the Capitol corridors to share how CTE prepares students for successful futures in the workforce. These students met with many state and educational leaders including Michigan’s Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley, State Representative Daniela Garcia, and Department of Education CTE Director Brian Pyles, PhD.

“In addition to their five championships in our state business plan competition, the Careerline staff and students run an excellent program that truly embodies the full VE experience,” says Wendy Schmitt, VE Great Lakes Regional Director, who nominated Careerline for this opportunity.
