The materials are evaluated on content\, design\, salesmanship\, and professionalism.\nEmail Campaign: Firms create an email campaign providing information about the campaign\, target market\, and several email examples to demonstrate ability to encourage a customer to take the next step with the company.\nVideo Commercial: Each firm must record a 30-to 60-second video commercial promoting the business and/or product(s)/services(s) to attract potential customers.\nBanner Ad:  Each firm is asked to create a 728×90 pixel Banner Ad (sometimes called a “leaderboard”) to spark interest in the firm and attract traffic to a website by linking to the website of the advertiser.

The event is broken down into the two following events: \nBusiness Plan Competition – The National Business Plan Competition challenges students to demonstrate their business expertise through written submissions and oral presentations of their company’s complete business plan. Startup companies and continuing businesses may be presented. The top teams from this competition will earn a spot to compete in the Long Island Business Plan Championship Round in February. \nBest Booth & Sales Pitch Competition – The VE Trade Exhibition welcomes firms from around NY State to showcase their student-run businesses and demonstrate their skills by promoting and selling their products and services to guest shoppers. Volunteers will rate Sales Pitch And Booth Design participating as guest shoppers and interacting with students on the trade show floor.

Volunteers will utilize industry experience to give students valuable feedback as a competition judge. Students will present their work on a live video conferencing tool and volunteers will watch presentations\, score teams and give feedback based on the competition rubric. The top teams from this competition will move on to compete with teams around the country at the National Championships in NYC in April.
