Career Technical Education Month (CTE) Month is an annual observance held in February to recognize the importance of Career Technical Education in preparing students for successful careers and pathways to higher education. Throughout this month, VE students showcased the invaluable opportunities CTE provides in shaping future careers. From trade shows and departmental presentations to business plans and student conferences, VE is committed to empowering students with the practical skills and knowledge they need to thrive in today’s workforce. Beyond this month, join us in embracing the transformative power of CTE and unlocking the potential of every student’s career journey!

2023-24 VE Brief 10: Exciting News ay VE!

Tom Smith, a longtime Managing Partner at Deloitte & Touche, has been named President and CEO of Virtual Enterprises International. Possessing deep strategic, technology, managerial and operational skills through decades long support of clients across many markets, Tom also has a personal “insider’s knowledge” of VE since he has personally coached, mentored and judged in the program for over 11 years. “I have been committed to serving VE students for many years and have seen first-hand the enormous value of our programs”, Tom shared. “It is an honor to be asked to lead this organization in its quest to provide the VE program to an ever-broadening constituency. I look forward to partnering with the entire VE team and Board to fulfill that vision.”

It is another busy time of the year in VE! Firms are putting together the Board of Directors Quarterly Report, refining products or services offering, updating the firm website, participating in competitions, and of course, preparing for International Trade Month in February! As the spring semester continues, navigation involves keeping up to date with the pacing guide and activities calendar, fostering a positive work environment, and adapting business strategies to better position the firm for success.

2023-24 VE Brief 5: National Entrepreneurship Month

November is National Entrepreneurship Month and is a time to celebrate entrepreneurs who serve their communities, bolster the economy, and inspire the future generations of leaders. Additionally, Global Entrepreneurship Week is from November 13 to 17! In the past, we have seen VE firms organize guest speaker sessions with local entrepreneurs, conduct field trips to startups or incubators, and engage in international e-commerce to foster trade around the world. By inviting VE firms to participate in this global celebration, we hope we will instill an entrepreneurial mindset in students, empowering them to become future leaders and change-makers in the business world. It’s a great opportunity to foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, all while building a solid foundation for students’ future success.

Over the next few months, firms will settle into their departmental roles, connect with companies locally, regionally, and nationally, begin developing business plans, and participate in competitions and events. As business registrations are being processed and funding application requests are coming in, it’s obvious that this year’s firm participation and engagement will be great!
