About VE Tech Apps for Hands-Online Learning

This course is available for both middle school or high school audiences, and was designed to provide a high-quality, universal foundation for online learning in academic and CTE classes. Tech Apps for Hands-Online Learning was adapted from VE’s Technology Applications for Business and the Entrepreneur course, which is a foundational course for students planning to take advantage of the robust VE Task Based Curriculum in our year-long work-based learning environment. 

Course Description

VE’s Tech Apps for Hands-Online Learning has been adapted from Technology Applications for Business and the Entrepreneur, a course that provides technology applications activities that are built around an entrepreneurial theme.

Students will use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Google applications to create projects and materials that develop technology and business competencies needed for success in college and the workplace. Projects are designed to develop students’ skills in technology, research, communications, problem-solving, and critical thinking. 

The units for the High School curriculum include Orientation, Using Word & Google Docs, The Entrepreneur, Using Excel & Google Sheets, Using PowerPoint & Google Slides, Exploring Careers, and Simulation Projects. The units for the Middle School curriculum include Orientation, Using Word, Entrepreneurship, Using Excel, Career Exploration, and Using PowerPoint.

The resource guide includes topics on how to adapt your curriculum using online resources (examples: Digital Student Portfolios, Create an Organizational Chart, Develop an E-Commerce Website, Create & Maintain Social Media Accounts, Create Promotional Campaigns, Develop an Elevator Sales Pitch, Leveraging Design Thinking for Problem Solving, and Risk Management), Tech Apps for Hands-Online Learning (Moving Files into Google Classroom), and Using Video Conferencing for Online Learning (Engage Partners to Provide Student Feedback and Organize Online Competitions).Â
