On Friday, October 27, over 600 student executives from over 70 Long Island high schools and middle schools gathered to learn and explore key leadership characteristics alongside mentor-leaders in their fields. Chuck Garcia from Long Island University (LIU) delivered opening remarks and presentations demonstrating the importance of communication, leadership, and emotional intelligence.
Break-out sessions then followed where students joined smaller groups based on the positions they hold in their firms. Students were able to hear from industry experts within that field and used critical thinking and leadership skills to address various scenarios of workplace challenges while collaborating and networking.
The conference ended with each group sharing key takeaways on the stage. These C-suite student executives were excited to start the VE school year off with this conference!
Thanks to Dean Graziela Fusaro, Christopher Bates, Chuck Garcia, George Baroudi, Dan Klein and the rest of the team at LIU for providing great insights at this event and helping us put on another successful event. Also, thanks to all the volunteers and staff members including Ellen Palazzo, Long Island Regional Director, Elizabeth Pooran Persaud, Associate Director of Long Island Programs for bringing this opportunity to students.
