Nakeem Grant of the Long Island Herald covered the preparation of the 2018 Long Island Regional Conference and Exhibition taking place on January 4th and 5th at Farmingdale State College.
The article covered the West Hempstead High School’s two VE classes that organized the event, which hosted approximately 1,400 attendees. Long Island VE coordinator, Michael Silberman, expressed the impact of these real-life exercises:
“I try to explain to my students that everything in life involves business, but a lot of the skills that students are gaining have to do with managing themselves. Whether it’s leadership skills, communication skills — both orally and written — or time management skills, these kids are getting the skills they need to be successful. It really encourages the kids to be responsible.”
