Can you briefly describe what you do in your current roles?
I currently work with two software development companies assisting with both creation and implementation of strategic online objectives. I also founded Trinity River Consulting, LLC, an online marketing and consulting company. I am responsible for coordinating multiple blogs, social media accounts, and websites to align support for marketing campaigns.
What first comes to mind when you think back to your VE experience?
I immediately think of a group of young individuals with tons of energy and passion. We were striving to bring an idea to life. Even though we did not know where we were going, we learned so much from all the pivots and changes in our ideas.
What was your favorite part of VE?
I loved being introduced to a large group of young professionals who were passionate about what they were doing and determined to make an impact. I was able to meet an amazing group of people at trade shows, workshops, and via social media.
How does your VE experience relate to your current role? How does it relate to what you ultimately want to do in your professional life?
VE gave me the confidence to pursue business after high school. By leading our VE firm as the CEO, I learned how much work it really takes to start a business. I rid myself of the illusion that managing a business is easy and confirmed my desire to challenge myself to start my own business. VE showed me what operating a company with 20 employees felt like, and I was hooked.
Can you describe how you stay involved with VE?
I stay involved by supporting my high school and attending regional trade shows. I have judged both pre-show competitions and day-of presentations. I continue to support VE through social media and connect with VE alumni through LinkedIn.
What advice do you have for current VE students?
This is a very hard project, but by taking on the challenge, you have taken the first step in moving from a “want-trepreneur” to an entrepreneur.
